We all have memories that we will treasure forever and often these memories are captured in photographs that remind us of a happy time or place. What do you do with your photos? Do you keep them in albums to be brought out at family gatherings or are they hidden in a box in that clutter cupboard that you know you will get around to sorting one day?

It is time to change that. Photos should be treasured, displayed and shared with the world. Here at Bay Tree, we are very big on “making your house a home” and what better way to truly turn your house into your home by displaying your memories as decorations for all to see.

One obstacle that many people face when organising their photos for display is what frames to use. There are no hard and fast rules except this… go with what you like and don’t be afraid to mix it up and experiment. A good idea is to use grouping.

Group frames that will be displayed together for a pulled-together look. Use a distinguishing characteristic to determine the grouping:  finish (distressed or gloss), material (wood or steel) or colour. Once you have your different groupings, it is fairly simple to see what will work and what won’t. There are many options to consider so let your decor decide which material, colour or finish best fits with your room.

If you are grouping your photo frames, you should also try and group your photos. Group colour photos together and black and white together. Sepia photos are easily combined with black and white photos or can be displayed on their own.
